Squadron Visits Aerospace Training Center for Young People

On Tuesday evening, September 1, 2015 the squadron visited the Air + Space Academy in the old Hangar 7 on Bowman Field to watch a presentation by the staff and to take a tour of the facility. The Air + Space Academy is "Air & Space Academy is America’s leading provider of Aeronautic and Aerospace-based educational programs for students in grades 9 through 12 that develop and promote study and proficiency in the STEM subjects, produces college and career ready graduates, and is training the next generation of aerospace workers." It was an interesting visit and should be of interest to any CAP cadets interested in the Air Force Academy or parents with children interested in aviation careers. To find out more about their mission, visit their website at http://airandspace-ed.org/

Presentors from the academy were Dr. Tim Smith, Executive Director and CEO and Edlisa Embry Lessig, Director of Operations and Development. After a breif PowerPoint presentation and video, squadron members were encouraged to ask questions about the academy. Following a short presentation by squadron commander, Major Hal Frary, squadron members were given a tour of the facilities and the hangar. Here are some photos from the event.
