Bowling Green SAREX

The Bowman Field Senior Squadron, KY214 participated in the Bowling Green Search and Rescue Exercise (SAREX) which was conducted the weekend of Friday, August 9th through Sunday, August 11th, 2013. The weather played a major factor in the SAREX with strong storms rolling in on Friday afternoon and low ceilings and visibility on Saturday and Sunday. A large number of cadets also turned out and aircraft from all over Kentucky Wing showed up (at least those that could get past the weather). Lot's of good training took place and lots of SQTRs were checked off. If you didn't make it, you missed a really good opportunity to meet some really nice new people and to learn and train on SAR. The following members from KY214 attended the SAREX. Major Larry Herzog was the Incident Commander (IC) and did a great job. Major Greg Bell, mission pilot; Major Keith Noe, mission observer, safety officer; Major Tom Clark, air operations director; Capt. Peter Miller, mission observer; SM Bill Rason mission scanner/AP; Stan Mullen comm ops; Lt. Frank Coomes, mission observer, Major Chris Nester mission check pilot. Here are some photos from the SAREX. WBKO TV in Bowling Green also had some video coverage of the event.
