KY214 Squadron Members Practice Hunting ELTs

KY214 members attending some practical training during the Tuesday, October 8th, 2013 squadron meeting. Practice ELTs (Emergency Locator Transmitter) were placed at random at the airport and members were tasked with finding them using only a handheld aviation radio. Attendees were shown the basics of finding the ELT and then turned loose. They were successful and a lot of good training took place. Finding the general area of an ELT in an airplane is one thing. But once you have isolated it to the airport, this training is imperative for the aircrew to be able to find it. Last two photos courtesy of Capt. Marc Feld.
