2015 GIIEP Training at Wing HQ

Four members of the Bowman Field Senior Squadron, KY-214, participated in the Geospatial Information Interoperability Exploitation Portable or GIIEP class conducted at Kentucky Wing CAP HQ in Frankfort, Kentucky on Saturday and Sunday, April 11-12, 2015. The class consisted of classroom instruction, videos, PowerPoint and hands on training in the classroom and in the air. Participating members were in alpha order, Major Greg Bell, Lt. Frank Coomes, Major Hal Frary and Lt. Bill Rason. Here are some photos taken during the two day training session.

 

Besides our squadron, senior and cadet members of the Kentucky Wing, Civil Air Patrol participated The GIIEP system is an airborne video capture and transmission system developed for the National Guard. During the training members were provided with a working lunch by wing staff. Illinois Wing member Bob Becker was the instructor for the course. Thanks to all those who helped make this event happen.

During the return flight to Louisville, the aircrew of N884CP, Maj. Greg Bell and Lt. Frank Coomes, photographed a bad accident on I-64 West at the Jefferson/Shelby County line. Those photos are included at the end of the album.
