Kentucky Wing Deputy Commander Presents Several Awards


At the July 3, 2018 squadron meeting, Kentucky Wing Deputy Commander, Lt. Col. Bob Sobotka stopped by to present several awards to members of the KY-214 squadron and others. Here are some pics from the meeting and awards ceremony. Capt. Larry Austin receives this certificate from Col. Bob Sobotka for completing the CAP Corporate Learning Course. This is part of CAP's professional development program. (L-R) Lt. Bill Rason, LTC Greg Bell, LTC Bob Sobotka and LTC Bill Hayes. These three Bowman Field airmen received a Disaster Relief Ribbon with V for Valor for participating in a Presidentially declared flood disaster earlier this year. LTC Keith Noe was presented a Disaster Relief Ribbon with V for Valor for his participation at the mission base during the 2017 Hurricane Harvey disaster. Lt. Bill Rason and LTC Greg Bell both received Disaster Relief Ribbons with the V device for participating as aircrew during the 2017 Hurricane Harvey disaster recovery effort in Texas. Col. Bell and Lt. Rason also received personal Commendations from the National Commander for their participation in the Hurricane Harvey mission. Former KY-214 Squadron member, LTC Chris Nester, was also there to receive an award. Chris is the Director of Operations for the 8 state, Great Lakes Region. Capt. Larry Austin was also presented with Safety Officer of the Year in the Kentucky Wing CAP. Squadron Commander, Major Hal Frary, was presented with the Squadron Commander of the Year Award by Col. Sobotka. All these awards were presented at the Bowman Field Readiness Center. After the awards presentation, Col. Sobotka gave a brief summary of the state of the wing and Col. Nester did likewise with the region..
