Squadron Hosts Joint Agency SAREX
On the weekend of November 14-15, 2015 The Bowman Field
Senior Squadron hosted a search and rescue exercise (SAREX) that included Oldham
County Emergency Management and several other CAP squadrons. Both air and ground
activities took place during the SAREX. The event was for both training and to
help work on interacting with local agencies during emergency/crisis situations.
Over sixty (60) CAP members participated in the activity along with several
local EM personnel. Operations were conducted out of the Bowman Field Readiness
Center (BFRC) and at forward locations in Oldham County. Two aircraft were used
during the exercise and they were flown both days for a total of 8 sorties.
There were 12 ground sorties conducted during the exercise as well. CAP flew
14.2 hours and drove over 447 miles during the SAREX. The squadron had 14
members participate in aircrew training activities along with one cadet.
Missions flown included aerial photography, electronic searches and visual
searches. CAP airmen also staffed the mission base and provide communications
for the event. Here are some photographs from Saturday's activities.
